Felt Workshop

Did you know that felt is one of the oldest forms of textiles, thought to have been created over 5000 years ago in Asia. The method is still practiced today to make many kinds of products including household items, art and clothing.

The workshop will utilize hand tools and an electric Feltloom. Both the hand tools and the Feltloom have long sharp needles which will cause the fibers to be interlocked through repetitive punching. The workshop is designed to allow for plenty of creativity.  Each felter can choose the type, size and colors for their project. Whether you choose to do a 5 foot table runner, or something on canvas, the options are endless!

The workshops can accommodate 4 to 5 people. They are held in the barn where there is plenty of light and room to spread out. The downside is the weather.  There is neither heat nor air conditioning in the barn and participants should dress accordingly. Each felter is provided a lightly prepared foundation felt fabric, use of hand tools, foam and the electric Feltloom. There are lots of colorful rovings and batts to choose from.

The cost is $50.00/person and takes 2 - 3 hours.
