Welcome to the farm

Trotter Hill Alpacas is a small, family run business that is devoted to breeding, raising and selling quality alpacas and the specialty products crafted from their fleece.

Trotter Hill Alpacas is happy to be open to visitors.  We are following CDC guidelines for social distancing, masks limited visitors and remaining outdoors (as opposed to spending time in the barn), as we work to put our visitors' safety first.

Alpaca Woodland Walks

We are pleased to announce that we have completed our Alpaca Woodland walking trail! Alpaca walks are on Fridays at 3:30PM, as long as the weather holds.
We will now be offering small groups an opportunity to interact with alpacas on a very personal level. We have been practicing with our group of seven girls who have been well behaved on this new venture. Alpacas are gentle, stoic creatures and are quite trainable, but do require patience and understanding as they can be frightened of new experiences. Our "woodland walking alpacas" are all coming along quite nicely.
Visitors will each learn how to place a halter on an alpaca’s  head, and walk with them  on a lead line. We will walk as a group outside the pasture up the hill and through the woods for a quiet walk of about 30 minutes.  We will stop from time to time to pet and reassure the alpacas and reward them with a snack. After the return trip, visitors will have an opportunity to visit with all of the alpacas  and take pictures and share a bit more grain.
Visitor requirements:  While we welcome all people and all ages to visit the farm during our scheduled tours, the alpaca walks will have certain restrictions. This is not an event for small children or anyone with a fear of animals. Additionally, visitors will need to be able to walk uphill for a half hour through woods and fields, while holding onto their alpaca, and giving the alpaca gentle encouragement. It is our goal that this will be a safe, unique and fun learning experience for our visitors. Masks are mandatory.
Group size is a minimum of two and a maximum of five people. Age requirements are a minimum of 15 years old. The fee will be $30.00 per person.
If you are interested in an Alpaca Walk, please email us the number of people in your party and we will let you know our next available dates.

Alpaca Farm Visit

Picture
We welcome visitors of all ages to visit our small herd of 13 alpacas where you can learn about alpaca life and the fabulous fleece they grow!  The alpacas are always happy to share their space and receive an extra handful of grain!  They are generally well behaved with their visitors provided everyone sticks to a few rules.  Although, alpacas look cuddly, they are not particularly fond of petting. Despite their lack of interest in petting, they are quite entertaining, fun to feed and of course photograph.
We are available for visits by appointment only.  Visits are 45 – 60 minutes and are limited to two per day: 10:00 AM and 12:00pm on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
No more than 8 people per group and masks are required for adults and older children. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available.
When you visit, please keep in mind that this is a working farm and visitors should dress accordingly. In the winter, plan on sturdy boots for mud and sometimes ice.
If you are interested in visiting, please email us with the number of people in your group and which of the three days and times are best.  We will let you know the next available openings.
Unfortunately, same day or same week appointments are not available.
